James Baring is a turnaround professional with over ten years of experience advising and supporting businesses through change and growth. He has advised distressed clients across various industries on mergers and acquisitions, working capital improvement and turnaround plans, cash flow forecasting and management, cost structure analysis, debt structuring and refinancing, asset disposition, creditor communications, and contingency planning related to insolvency matters.

James is an active member of the professional restructuring community where he serves on the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) Global Investment Committee.  He is the former NextGen Chair on the TMA’s Southern California chapter's Board of Directors, TMA Global NextGen Executive Committee, and founding member of Secured Finance Network's (SFNet) Southern California's YoPro Committee. He has received numerous awards, is a published thought leader, and a frequent panel member. James received formal Spanish language training from the University of Grenada in Spain and speaks at a conversational level.

  • Financial Advisor to a $3B protein processing company, leading teams developing and implementing multi-phased financial and operational restructuring plan generating $200MM+ of financial performance improvement initiatives spanning operational and working capital improvements, SG&A expense reductions, capital plan implementation, and liquidity management.
  • Financial Advisor to a $9B office supplies retailer, leading team developing and implementing $280MM+ working capital improvement plan spanning the Order to Cash and Procure to Pay working capital cycles.
  • Interim Controller and restructuring advisor to distressed $200MM debt collection company through successful out-of-court operational restructuring and sale.
  • Restructuring advisor in support of CRO of $50MM Oil & Gas exploration & production company through successful section 363-sale process in Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
