Kep Sweeney has more than 20 years of experience providing operational consulting and restructuring services to private and public companies. He is skilled at leading clients through the various stages of their business lifecycle by implementing operational improvements including asset optimization, working capital improvements, process improvements execution, and helping them solve complex issues.

Kep has led restructuring efforts for companies with more than $5.B in total in liabilities, operating across the country in restaurants, hotels, hospitals, commercial real estate groups, biotech and biometric companies, cosmetic developers, and gaming business. He has developed analytic products for Citi Group and worked at Salomon Brothers in New York City as an equity research analyst. Kep is a published author of The New Restaurant Entrepreneur: An Inside Look at Restaurant Deal-Making and Other Tales from the Culinary Trenches. He has also appeared as a contributor on CNN, CNBC, and Bloomberg TV.

Representative Experience

  • Chief Restructuring Officer of a Las Vegas restaurant, nightclub, and retail company during the bankruptcy process. Reorganized, sold off assets, and negotiated out of liabilities without filing for Chapter 11.
  • Advisor for a national celebrity chef restaurant group’s fast-casual concept that was cash-flow negative. Engaged to create a course of action for line to become profitable again. Created a new store roll-out strategy.
  • Chief Restructuring Officer engaged to examine financial condition and operating processes of 88-year-old cosmetic company. Developed operating plan, revenue forecasts, and budgets by department. Reorganized the organizational chart, developed a sales funnel, introduced project post mortems, and changed the processes and measurements for regional managers.
  • Interim Chief Executive Officer for alertnest, a partner of Sinclair Broadcast Group. alertnest is a technology company that provides hyper-local information to users and media companies.
  • Led restructuring efforts of over $4B of real estate assets. Represented borrower and negotiated on the borrower’s behalf against large U.S. banks, note buying groups, and the FDIC.
