Jeff Armstrong

Jeff  Armstrong has more than thirty-five years of experience in operations, finance, and general management.  He has served in a variety of roles including executive management and advisor to corporate boards of directors, management, lenders, and investors.

Some past engagements include:

  • Served as Chief Financial Officer at Tyler Perry Studios (“TPS”) in Atlanta, GA. TPS, owned by writer, producer, director, and actor Tyler Perry, is a vertically-integrated entertainment company with business interests in Film and TV production, studio facilities, post-production, and special effects and real estate holdings. As CFO, Mr. Armstrong helped to transform a new business model that developed, constructed and operated a new studio-for-hire operation.  He led the implementation of a new ERP system, integrated new studio operations operating platforms and procedures, hired new staff in finance/accounting and operations, and helped establish new pricing and projection models.  He significantly improved bank and management reporting routines and led the revision of credit agreements with lenders.
  • Chief Financial Officer of In Zone Holdings, Inc. which operated two consumer products the developed, manufactured and marketed a children’s beverage product (Good2Grow) and a line of thermo-insulated drinkware (Bubba Brands). At In Zone, Mr. Armstrong sourced new financing to support the firm’s growth, worked closely with operations through a move of production back from China to the US, established new financial and operational reporting and ultimately played a central role in the sale of Bubba Brands to Newell/Rubbermaid.
  • CFO to a St. Louis, MO-based electronic/mechanical control device firm where he helped refinance the senior loan facility and raised additional equity capital from investors. Mr. Armstrong also recently advised a Memphis-based steel processing company assisting the owner with operational and financial restructuring matters. Other recent clients include serving as financial advisor to $90 million residential real estate developer, a $55 million mixed-use real estate developer, advising a building materials distribution company, an airport-centric staffing company, and a granite/marble distributor.
  • Chief Financial Officer for a multi-store consumer finance company, CFO of a $140 million publicly-traded manufacturer of industrial and consumer products with operations in four countries.
  • Chief Restructuring Officer for a $90 Million manufacturing company with operations in Mexico and China
  • CRO of a $100 Million food manufacturer where he rationalized operations and restructured the balance sheet resulting in significant additional equity capital.
  • Mr. Armstrong also served as a Vice President and Portfolio Manager for Sirrom Capital Corporation, a “venture” lender in Nashville, TN and as an Associate with Alpert Investment Corporation, an equity investment firm based in Dallas, TX.
