George Katakalidis, Industry Specialist

From startups to multi-unit restaurant chains, George Katakalidis has been assessing, strategizing, writing and implementing business development plans for over 30 years. He is considered one of the founding leaders in the fast-casual segment of the Restaurant & Hospitality industry.  His passionate style and complex leadership skills allow for successful and diligent implementation strategies. He brings a C-level executive mindset, with a unique blend of technical and entrepreneurial abilities that have been creating solutions in advising and leading companies.

George has served on the Board of the California Restaurant Association and as an executive of two non-profit organizations in Southern California. In his personal life, George captained the Canadian Olympic and Junior National soccer team and played professional soccer in the US for eight years. He is fluent in Greek and conversationally proficient in Spanish and French. He is currently on the board of the Squadron A Association and the Greenwich Choral Society.

  • Founded, and led executive management teams that helped develop Daphne’s Greek Café, one of the original fast-casual Greek Chains in America. Grew business from a startup to over 85 units and $60MM in sales.
  • Managing Partner of Player’s Bar & Grill, one of the first true sports bars in San Diego county. Able to take restaurant from negative1$00k/ year to positive $100k/year in less than two tears.
  • Managing partner of GPG Capital, a San Diego-based management company that consulted for a full-service sushi restaurant and lounge, a fast-casual salad/sandwich concept, and a fast-casual European bistro.
  • Consultant for a fast-casual, internationally franchised, hamburger chain. Able to grow chain from start-up to six units in four countries.
